The Waterberg Home for the Aged was built in 1960 – 1961 by the Reformed Church (Gereformeerde Kerk”) in Nylsroom as a haven for the lonely elderly to provide for their social needs, who remained on the farms in the vicinity after their children moved to the cities.
In later years, it developed to render extended services and nowadays a full-time institutional nursing care is offered for the aged, frail aged and disabled. Day-care services are rendered when rooms are available.
Since 1 April 2008 the home was incorporated within the Residentia Foundation (now Residentia).
The following facilities are available.
The Waterberg Home is conveniently situated near the post office, Shops, doctors consulting rooms, the provincial hospital, physiotherapists and churches. The Waterberg Home can accommodate 71 aged and frail aged. Day-care facilities are provided if rooms are available.

- 12 single rooms for Alzheimer and dementia residents

The accommodation in the Johanes Postma flats are for independent elderly only. They share in all the social activities of the Old Age Home. Lunches may be booked in advance at the Old Age Home.
The flats are for rent only.
The complex consists of 20 bachelors as well as 10 one bedroom flats for couples.
