In the small town of Frankfort, nestled on the bank of the Vaal river, you will find Residentia Wilgerus. But, there’s nothing “Vaal” at this aged-care facility…
The residents of Residentia Wilgerus participates in all kinds of creative and fun activities during the day and the Eden Culture Change Workshop sparked some creative thoughts!
Residents participates in joint discussions concerning decision making processes within this facility and voicing their needs. During one of these Learning Circle discussions, the “Need to Feel Worthy” was addressed and a new activity was added ‘menu’.
With pure small–town charm and great excitement, residents at Residentia Wilgerus can take over the kitchen once a month! They can decide what’s for lunch, create a menu, prepare the food and even set the tables. And yes, this includes dessert!
“The “Kitchen Take-Over” will ignite self–worth and dignity and we hope it will inspire others to do the same” – Ilse Haasbroek, Residentia General Manager: Care
